WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR FIRST VISIT
We know visiting a new vet can be a little daunting — for both you and your pet! Here’s a quick guide to help you feel prepared and welcome when you come to see us for the first time.
We can’t wait to meet you and your pets!
Before your appointment
If you haven’t registered yet, you can do this online or give us a call beforehand.
Arrive 5–10 minutes early to allow time for check-in.
Bring any previous vet records, medication, or insurance details (if you have them — not essential, but helpful!).
For kittens, cats or small pets, please bring them in a secure carrier. Dogs should be on a lead.
If you’re bringing a puppy who hasn’t completed their vaccinations, please carry them or keep them off the floor in a carrier. This helps protect them from potential infections while they’re still building immunity.
When you arrive
Our reception team will greet you and check your details.
We aim to run on time, but now and then emergencies can cause a short wait — we really appreciate your understanding.
We have a separate cat waiting area to help reduce stress and keep cats away from dogs as much as possible.
We’ll do our best to keep all pets calm and comfortable while you wait.
And don’t forget — please keep young puppies off the floor until they’ve completed their vaccinations.
Your appointment
Your vet will take time to get to know you and your pet.
We’ll ask about their health, lifestyle, diet, behaviour, and any concerns you have.
A full nose-to-tail health check is usually included in first visits.
We’ll discuss any recommendations (e.g. vaccinations, flea/worming, diet, microchipping).
We’ll talk you through any costs — we’re always happy to explain.
After your appointment
You’ll return to reception to book any follow-ups or collect medication if needed.
You can pay by card, cash, or contactless. If you have insurance, let us know and we can advise on claims.
Still have questions?
No problem — our team is always happy to help.
Just give us a ring, drop us a message on PetsApp Beechwood or PetsApp Low Waters, or ask at reception.
