Important Update: Written Prescriptions

A Faster, Smoother Way to Sort Your Written Prescriptions!

We’re always keen to make caring for your pets as straightforward and hassle-free as possible. From Monday 2 November, we are updating how we process written prescriptions!

Instead of making an extra trip to the surgery to collect a physical paper copy, we will now email signed written prescriptions directly to your chosen online pharmacy.

Clear & Transparent Pricing

In line with the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) guidelines for fair and transparent pricing—which we have fully supported and complied with since they were introduced—our written prescription fee is £21.40.

Why This Makes Life Easier

  • ✨ No Extra Journeys: Save time, fuel, and a trip to the surgery by having everything managed digitally.

  • 🔒 Direct & Secure: Emailing prescriptions straight from our official practice account means your pharmacy receives a verified copy promptly, allowing them to get your order sorted without delay.

4 Simple Steps to Request Your Prescription

  1. Request & Pay : Submit your request via PetsApp or over the phone and settle the £21.40 prescription fee. Please note: Our veterinary team can only begin reviewing, writing, and signing your prescription once payment has been received.

  2. Order Your Medication: Head over to your chosen online pharmacy’s website and place your order as normal.

  3. Send Us Your Details: Pop us a quick message on PetsApp (or give reception a call) with your Order Reference Number and Pharmacy Email Address.

  4. We Email the Pharmacy: As soon as we have your order reference, our team will email the signed prescription directly to the pharmacy so they can dispatch your pet's medication!

A Few Helpful Tips to Keep Things Running Smoothly

To make sure your pet never runs short of their vital medication, please keep these points in mind:

  • 🩺 Regular Health Checks: Under veterinary regulation, pets must be under our clinical care to receive a prescription. Please be aware that your pet may need to be seen for a re-examination before a new written prescription can be issued.

  • 📅 Allow Plenty of Time: We recommend starting the process at least 5–7 working days before your pet’s medication runs out. This allows time for payment processing, any required health checks, vet authorisation, and postal delivery.

  • 📦 Dispensing & Delivery: Once the prescription has been emailed, fulfillment and postage are handled entirely by your chosen online pharmacy.

  • 🚚 Tracking & Stock Queries: If you have any questions about delivery times or stock availability, your online pharmacy is best placed to help! Please contact them directly once your order is underway, as our reception team is unfortunately unable to contact or chase up third-party pharmacies on your behalf.

  • 💳 Non-Refundable Fee: The £21.40 fee covers our veterinary team's time and legal responsibility to review medical records and issue the clinical prescription. Once a prescription has been written and issued, this fee is non-refundable, regardless of third-party stock availability or delivery timelines.

We’re delighted to roll out this new process to make things easier for you. If you have any questions at all, our friendly reception team is always on hand to help via PetsApp or on the phone! 🐾
